For Hotchkiss — Love It Here

Hotchkiss asked Upland to create a set of videos to serve as a portrait of the school for admissions and also combat a misperception that the school's well-known high academic standards somehow made it unwelcoming or unfriendly.

So we created:

  • "Love It Here" — the main video, based on light-hearted direct interviews with students and teachers,  deliberately ignoring the campus itself, in order to emphasize the school's warm community →
  • Six student vignettes for more depth about life at Hotchkiss.
  • One vignette featuring Head of School Malcolm McKenzie, to inspire parents' trust.

For this video we interviewed two dozen members of the Hotchkiss community — a mix of students and teachers — over the course of two days. I composed music to support the video's emotional arc and turning points.
